On June 11th, 2019 , the President of the Republic, Mahamadou Issoufou, have inaugurated the Diori Hamani International Airport of Niamey, renovated and modernized to meet international standards in the perspective of the African Union summit (AU) to be held in Niger at the beginning of July this year.
The project was fully financed and executed by the Turkish company SUMMA as part of a public-private partnership (PPP).
President Issoufou expressed his satisfaction to inaugurate this new airport which, in terms of air transport, will make Niamey “a hub for the Region”, and congratulated the company SUMMA “for their performances and to have honored the contract they signed with the Government of Niger.
The inauguration of the modernized airport in Niamey comes shortly after the inauguration of the Radisson Blu Presidential hotel, also built by SUMMA in Niamey.
